U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville, Alabama’s leading candidate to become governor in 2026, has raised more than $5.2 million since announcing his bid in May, according to his most recent campaign finance reports.
Tuberville received about a dozen major contributions, defined by state law as more than $20,00, in July. The largest were $100,000 from Community Health Systems in Antioch, Tenn., and $50,000 from Alabama-based coal producer Drummond Co.
Tuberville raised more than $722,000 last month in smaller contributions and spent about $260,000. He ended the month with $4.7 million on hand.
He’s spent about $482,000 to date.
Tuberville doesn’t have a GOP opponent in the race, at least not one raising funds after he effectively cleared the field with his name recognition and fundraising power. The Alabama Republican Party recently set primary qualifying for mid January.
On the Democrats’ side, Chad “Chin” Martin and Will Boyd are gearing up for a May 19 primary.
