Mary Sell
EditorMary Sell has covered Alabama politics and state government since 2012 and joined Alabama Daily News in 2019. One of Mary’s primary goals for ADN and Inside Alabama Politics is to not duplicate what other news outlets are reporting, but find the yet-to-be told stories about politics and policies and their impact on readers. Mary previously worked for Gannett newspapers as a reporter and editor in Alabama, Mississippi and Indiana. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Michigan State University.

Government & Politics ReporterAlexander Willis graduated from the University of North Texas' Mayborn School of Journalism, and spent four years reporting on government and politics in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2022, he continued his reporting on government and politics as a freelance journalist before joining Alabama Daily News in early 2023, where he currently covers the Alabama Legislature and governor's office.

Senior Education ReporterTrisha Powell Crain is the senior education reporter for Alabama Daily News and Alabama Public Television. She has more than 20 years of experience reporting on Alabama schools, covering a range of topics from what happens at state board meetings to how kids learn to what the latest round of data says about student outcomes.
Trish believes education is the foundation for a great state and aims to create meaningful dialogue to ensure every Alabamian gets a fair chance to reach his or her potential.
Prior to joining ADN and APT, she spent eight years as the senior education reporter for Alabama Education Lab at Alabama Media Group, known as AL.com.
Her work has appeared in local, state, and national publications, online and in print.
Crain has three adult children and lives in Hoover in the house where she grew up. She graduated with a Master of Public Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in May of 2013.
