Robertson, Mitchell continue tight fundraising battle in AG’s race

Alabama Republican attorney general candidate Katherine Robertson received $368,751 in campaign contributions in March, slightly more than fellow GOP candidate Jay Mitchell’s $350,675, according to campaign finance reports filed Thursday.

The two are in one of the tightest fundraising and scrappiest primary contests of this election cycle. His fundraising totals $3.58 million to date; hers is $3.49 million.

Robertson, chief counsel for current attorney general Steve Marshall, received last month $150,000 from Frontline Leaders Action, a 501(c)(4) based in Virginia. The same nonprofit gave Robertson $300,000 in January.

Support for Mitchell, a former Alabama Supreme Court associate justice, included $25,000 from the Alabama Realtors Association political action committee, which endorsed him last week.
