MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Republican U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville had another dominant month in the race to be Alabama’s next governor, according to campaign finance reports filed Thursday.

Tuberville brought in a total of $581,000 in March, around half of what he raised in February. About $295,000 of that money came from major donations over $20,000.

His intake included no PAC money, which his campaign previously said he won’t accept, but he received more than $236,000 in donations from businesses and corporations in March. That includes $30,000 from VGW Luckyland Inc., an online casino based out of Colorado, and $50,000 from the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America.

Tuberville spent $305,000 and ended March with a war chest of $8.63 million, more than seven times larger than that of all nine other candidates combined. He has spent $3.27 million throughout the course of his campaign.

Democrat and former U.S. Senator Doug Jones raised $175,000 last month and heads into April with a reserve of $951,000. Jones’ intake primarily came from small individual donations, and he received $1,500 from businesses and corporations.

The last Democrat to hold statewide office, Jones spent $207,000 last month. He has spent $607,000 since joining the race in December.

Democrats Will Boyd, Jamel Jermaine Brown, Yolanda Flowers, Chad Chig Martin and Nathan “Nate” Mathis, independent Stacy Lee George and Republican Ken McFeeters have also raised money in the race.

Including March’s numbers, all candidates in the race have raised $13.48 million and spent nearly $4 million.

Republican “Alabama” Will Santivasci has qualified with his party to run but has not reported any campaign finance numbers.

The primary is May 19. The deadline to register to vote in the primary is May 4.
