Republican candidate for Alabama attorney general Jay Mitchell said Tuesday his campaign now has more than $1.25 million on hand.
Candidates for state offices in 2026 who are raising money must file their June campaign finance reports on Wednesday.
Mitchell, who resigned last month as an associate justice on the Alabama Supreme Court to run for attorney general, moved more than $638,000 from his previous judicial campaign fund to his new campaign account, according to reports available online.
Mitchell so far faces Katherine Robertson, the chief counsel for current Attorney General Steve Marshall, and Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey. Complete June fundraising information wasn’t online for any of the trio before Wednesday’s deadline.
But filings show several major contributions to Mitchell’s campaign last month.
“This early support is humbling and energizing,” Mitchell said in a written statement Tuesday. “It tells me that Alabamians are ready for a conservative fighter who will stand with President Trump and keep Alabama families safe.”
Major contributions to Mitchell include: $25,000 from the Electric Cooperatives of Alabama PAC; $100,000 from Keller Postman Law in Chicago; $25,000 from Watson and Downs Investments in Dothan; and $50,000 from the Beasley Allen law firm in Montgomery.
