MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Business Council of Alabama on Monday launched a new website and billboard campaign in support of Tommy Tuberville’s bid for governor.
The website features positive portrayals of Tuberville’s pro-business record in the U.S. Senate, including the Overtime Wages Relief Act to end federal taxes on overtime pay and the fighting a new rule that would have raised the salary threshold for overtime and increased costs for employers.
BCA President and CEO Helena Duncan said her organization isn’t just endorsing Tuberville, but working around the state to help get him elected.
“Coach Tuberville has shown that he understands what businesses need to grow, invest and create jobs,” said Helena Duncan, President & CEO of the Business Council of Alabama. “From cutting taxes to fighting burdensome regulations and government mandates, Coach has consistently stood with businesses, workers and the people creating jobs across Alabama. We are proud to support him for governor and highlight the record he has built.”
According to a press release, the campaign will include billboards featuring the former Auburn coach tossing a football with the words “COACH MEANS BUSINESS.”
The campaign is paid for by ProgressPAC, the political arm of BCA. Its chairman, Kevin Savoy of Great Southern Preserving, said supporting Tuberville is the centerpiece of their overall strategy of helping pro-business candidates.
“Alabama’s next governor will have a major role in determining whether our state remains one of the best places in the country to start, grow and operate a business,” Savoy said. “Coach understands what is at stake, and his record shows that he is willing to stand up for Alabama employers and workers.”
Tuberville faces Democratic nominee Doug Jones in the November 3 general election.
