Candidates for Alabama lieutenant governor Wes Allen and Rick Pate had nearly $260,000 and $270,000 cash on hand at the end of June, respectively, per their latest campaign finance reports.
Allen, the current Alabama secretary of state, and Pate, the current Alabama commissioner of agriculture, are the frontrunners for the open seat in 2026.
Pate’s slight cash lead at the end of the month comes from a $100,000 personal loan to his campaign. He also received $133,730 from “Friends of Rick Pate,” a political action committee supporting him.
Allen reported $128,200 worth of donations from 34 donors in June.
“I continue to be grateful for the outpouring of support this campaign is receiving from across the state,” Allen said in a written statement. “People across our state recognize that I have a strong record of getting things done. From eliminating $2 million in unnecessary spending in the Secretary of State’s Office to developing the most secure elections system in our nation’s history to leading the charge to ban puberty blockers and sex change procedures on minors in our state, I have shown repeatedly that I am not a person that just talks about standing up for conservative values.”
The GOP primary is May 19. Other announced candidates are Republicans Patrick Bishop, who raised $2,000 last month, Dean Odle and Nicole Wadsworth. Wadsworth’s campaign reported raising about $28,500 in June.
