Republican Wes Allen, the current Alabama secretary of state running for lieutenant governor in 2026, extended his fundraising lead in October.
A.J. McCarron, the former star quarterback for Alabama who announced his bid for lieutenant governor last month. Candidates must file the reports online if they’ve raised more than $1,000.
“A.J. announced his candidacy just one week before the fundraising deadline, and while he has secured commitments from donors, the campaign deliberately chose not to accept those contributions until the next reporting period opened,” the McCarron campaign said in an email to Alabama Daily News.
Allen raised more than $92,000 last month and loaned his campaign an additional $250,000, ending the month with about $946,000 on hand. He had a $25,000 contribution from the Alabama Farmers Federation’s political action committee.
Rick Pate, the current commissioner of agriculture and industries, took in $39,677 last month and had $524,030 on hand.
Nicole Wadsworth, an entrepreneur from north Alabama, raised more than $20,000 and loaned her campaign an additional $50,000 last month. She had nearly $175,000 on hand at the end of the month.
Patrick Bishop and Dean Odle round out the GOP field.
