Heath Allbright is the GOP candidate to represent Alabama House District 11, according to unofficial results from Tuesday’s special primary election.
Allbright received 1,909 votes, or 54%, to Don Fallin’s 1,609, or 46%.
Allbright faces Democrat Alex Braswell for the seat representing portions of Cullman and Blount counties. The special general election is Aug. 26.
“Congratulations to Heath Allbright on winning the Republican nomination for House District 11,” ALGOP Chairman John Wahl said in a statement Tuesday night. “We’re grateful to both candidates for stepping forward to serve, and to the voters who participated in this important election. With so much at stake in our state, it’s critical that we continue to elect leaders who will stand for conservative values and fight for the people of Alabama.”
The seat was previously held by Republican Randall Shedd, who stepped down in February to work in Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger’s office.
Allbright, of Holly Pond, is a former two-term Cullman County Board of Education member and owns a timber harvesting and reforestation company.
Braswell is a long-time Cullman County resident, sign language interpreter and advocate for families and small business, according to her website.
