The Alabama Farmers Federation announced its endorsement of Jerry Carl for Alabama’s First Congressional District Thursday.
Carl, a Republican who served in the U.S. House from 2021-2025, is running for his former seat after U.S. Rep. Barry More, R-Enterprise, beat him in a close GOP primary in 2024. Moore is now running for U.S. Senate.
“I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of the Farmers Federation and Alabama’s outstanding farm community,” Carl said in a statement. “Our farmers represent the very backbone of this nation — men and women whose hard work and dedication sustain our way of life.”
The district includes parts of Mobile and all of Baldwin, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Escambia, Geneva, Henry and Houston counties.
“Jerry Carl shares our conservative values and is aware of the needs of the agricultural community in this district,” Hope Cassebaum, president of the Baldwin County Farmers Federation, said in a statement. “He will be a conservative voice for us in Washington.”
Support from ALFA’s FarmPAC can make a significant difference in Alabama campaigns. Candidates have to travel to local chapter meetings to gain support from county federation boards of directors.
State Rep. Rhett Marques, R-Enterprise, is also running to represent AL-1 in 2026. U.S. Sen. Katie Britt has supported Marques’ bid and contributed $10,000 to his campaign from her leadership PAC.
The FarmPAC endorsed Steve Marshall for U.S. Senate, Wes Allen for lieutenant governor and Katherine Robertson for attorney general, among others, last month.
The GOP primary is May 19, 2026.
