MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Invariant Corporation, a defense engineering and technology company based in Huntsville, was named to the 2026 Inc. 5000 list of the fastest growing private companies in the United States.
With a 265% growth in revenue between 2022 and 2025, Invariant was 1,322th on the list “showcasing the best of the best in entrepreneurial business.” The median revenue growth rate of the 5,000 companies recognized was 130%.
Invariant, founded in 2001, is fully employee-owned. CEO and co-founder David Anderson said he’s proud to make the list and excited for the employees to benefit from the company’s continued growth.
“That’s the important part of being employee owned: as a company grows and as we increase in revenue, the employees are the ones that are doing the hard work and are the ones that are creating that additional revenue, and they directly benefit from that,” Anderson told Alabama Daily News.
The company with just over 200 employees recently announced that it has integrated its technologies to track and defeat drones that could prove critical as drones transform modern warfare. It saw a U.S. Department of Defense need for a layered counter-drone defense system and found a way to meet that need with its technology, Anderson previously told ADN.
He said the higher usage of drones has been a factor in Invariant’s revenue growth.
“Obviously with the increased drone threat around the world, being in the counter (unmanned aircraft system) industry and that business is beneficial,” Anderson said. “Being able to provide defensive weapons that protect our troops and other countries that are susceptible to drone attacks, it’s rewarding to be able to provide that capability.”
Invariant is continuing to grow its capabilities in advanced defense technology, including hardware and sensor development, custom software, rapid prototyping, systems integration and mission-critical engineering support, the company said in a press release.
Anderson said Invariant wants to continue to provide “excellent” technical work to all of its customers as it evolves into a more product-based company.
“It’s an honor to be recognized,” Anderson said. “It’s really a tribute to the employees and the hard work and dedication that they put in over the last several years and continuing to do good technical work and to provide the services that they provide.”
