Republican candidate for secretary of state Caroleene Dobson extended her campaign finance lead in August.
Dobson’s largest contribution was $50,000 from the Business Council of Alabama’s Progress PAC. Traditions Bank in Cullman also made a $20,000 contribution.
Dobson, who last year was the GOP nominee in the 2nd Congressional District, has about $647,200 on hand, according to filing information available online.
She loaned her campaign $500,000 soon after announcing her bid earlier this summer.
Fellow GOP candidate and current Alabama Auditor Andrew Sorrell took in nearly $5,000 in August and ended the month with about $302,000 on hand.
He previously loaned his campaign $250,000.
The secretary of state seat is open next year as Wes Allen is running for lieutenant governor.
There are no other candidates raising money in that race. The GOP primary is May 19.
More campaign finance reports from other 2026 candidates will be available later today.
