MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The state’s annual Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday began this morning at 12:01 a.m.
The sales tax holiday, which includes items like flashlights, batteries, weather radios, first-aid kits, tarps and portable generators, will last until Sunday at midnight.
“In Alabama, we experience just about every kind of weather you can imagine – winter cold snaps, spring tornadoes, summer hurricanes, flooding rains and plenty of sunshine in between,” Gov. Ivey said in a press release. “We can’t control the forecast, but we can control how prepared we are for the unknown. This sales tax holiday gives every Alabama family the opportunity to get ready, rain or shine, and that diligence can make all the difference.”
Cities and municipalities can also choose to opt-in and remove their local sales tax as well. To see those that did, click here.
