RNC chairman Whatley to headline Alabama Republicans’ summer dinner

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley will be the keynote speaker at the Alabama Republican Party’s annual summer dinner on Aug. 1 in Montgomery.

“Chairman Whatley is one of the most effective and respected leaders in the Republican Party today,” ALGOP Chairman John Wahl said in an announcement Wednesday. “His leadership has been critical to revitalizing our national infrastructure, reenergizing the grassroots base and restoring public trust in our election system.

“Chairman Whatley and I became friends while serving as state chairmen together on the RNC, and I can tell you firsthand that he understands what it takes to win—not just at the presidential level, but from the local level all the way to the top of the ticket.”

The ALGOP’s summer dinner is one of the largest political events of the year. About 2,700 people attended two years ago when President Donald Trump, then running for reelection, attended.

Whatley, a Trump ally, was recently reelected as the RNC chairman. He was previously chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party and served in the George W. Bush administration, as chief of staff for former U.S. Elizabeth Dole and as a senior advisor on Trump’s transition teams.

More information about the dinner is available here.

The party’s summer meeting is Aug. 2.
