WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Barry Moore, R-Enterprise, has picked up a new endorsement in his bid for Alabama’s open U.S. Senate seat.
The Republican candidate announced Vice President JD Vance’s endorsement Wednesday morning in a post on X. Vance said Moore, who was the first elected official to endorse President Donald Trump in 2015, was an “ally from day one.”
“I’ve personally endorsed Barry’s campaign because I’ve seen his character and commitment firsthand. He’s exactly the kind of fighter President Trump needs in the Senate,” Vance said in a statement.
I’m thrilled to have Vice President Vance’s endorsement to be Alabama’s next United States Senator! I look forward to continuing my work with him and President @realDonaldTrump to enact the America First agenda into law.

The vice president’s support follows Trump’s endorsement of Moore last month, in which he called the congressman a “good friend, fighter, and WINNER.”
“I look forward to continuing my work with him and (President Donald Trump) to enact the America First agenda into law,” Moore said in the social media post.
He currently represents Alabama’s 1st Congressional District after winning a competitive primary against former Rep. Jerry Carl in 2024. The congressman was elected to the U.S. House in 2020. Moore is also a member of the House Freedom Caucus.
Recently, a crypto super PAC announced it will spend $5 million to support Moore’s campaign for Alabama’s U.S. Senate seat, currently held by Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who is running for governor.
Republicans Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson, former Tuberville advisor Morgan Murphy and businessman Rodney Walker are also running in the GOP primary for the seat.
The primary is May 19.
