BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Gov. Kay Ivey is welcoming Alabama students back to school, encouraging them to work hard, get involved and take advantage of the fresh start a new school year offers.
In a video message released by her office, Ivey acknowledged that returning to the classroom can be exciting but also “a little intimidating.”
“Being back in the classroom with your teachers and classmates is an exciting time, but I know that it might also be a little intimidating, and that’s okay,” she said.
“The start of a new school year offers a chance to start fresh.”
She encouraged students to learn from their teachers, read more, make new friends, be kind to classmates and step outside their comfort zones.
Ivey also thanked Alabama teachers, school leaders and parents for their roles in preparing students for success.
“Know that each of you have my full support, and I will be cheering on all your success this school year,” she told students.
