MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Attorney Caroleene Dobson is dominating campaign fundraising and spending in the race to be Alabama’s next secretary of state.
Dobson has raised $564,166 since joining the race, including making a $500,000 loan to her campaign, trumping the $1,977 taken in by her Republican opponent Glenda Jackson, according to the most recent campaign finance information available.
Republican state auditor Andrew Sorrell was previously running for secretary of state but changed course to run for reelection in January. Sorrell raised $216,340 and spent $476,811 before switching races.
Dobson has spent $194,780 in the race, and Jackson has spent $1,900.

Dobson has a war chest of $869,386 headed in April. Jackson has a reserve of $76.87.
Attorney Wayne Rodgers is running unopposed in the Democratic primary. He has raised $24,364 so far and has spent $14,169. He heads into April with $11,427 on hand.

Rodgers has loaned his campaign$1,200.
Current secretary of state Wes Allen is not seeking reelection. He is instead running for lieutenant governor.
The primary is May 19. The deadline to register to vote in the primary is May 4.
