Sen. Clyde Chambliss, R-Prattville, will again be the Senate’s majority whip in the upcoming legislative session.
“Sen. Chambliss is an effective leader who has proven his ability to guide significant legislation the Senate has passed over his tenure,” said Majority Leader Steve Livingston, R-Scottsboro. “His strategic thinking and political insight have garnered the trust of our caucus members, and he is an incredible asset to our party and the people of Alabama. I trust his judgment and abilities and look forward to standing with him to deliver results to all Alabamians through important legislation in the future.”
Chambliss was appointed majority whip when the position was created before the 2023 session. In the upcoming session, Chambliss will assist Livingston and Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Reed, R-Jasper, in the management of the Senate floor, counting votes and advancing leadership priorities.
“I am excited to continue in the role of senate majority whip and thank Leader Livingston for selecting me for this position,” Chambliss said. “I look forward to continuing to serve the members of the Senate Majority Caucus in moving our great state forward.”
Chambliss was elected to the Senate in 2014. His committee assignments include chairing the Joint Prison Oversight Committee.
The 2024 session begins Feb. 6.
