A special episode of Capitol Journal this week. We are on location at Innovate Alabama’s “State of Innovation” celebration and awards ceremony in Birmingham.
A public-private economic development organization, Innovate Alabama was established in 2021 as a successor to the now disbanded Innovation Commission, and focuses on economic development through three core pillars: developing talent, expanding access to resources for entrepreneurs and improving the state’s lifestyle and recreation options.
Among the key speakers at the event was former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, a founing member of the original Innovation Commission.
At our remote set there at the Florentine, I interview Dr. Rice, Senate President Pro Tem Greg Reed, State Finance Director Bill Poole and Innovate Alabama CEO Cynthia Crutchfield.
