Beeker running for full PSC term

Current Alabama Public Service Commission member Chris Beeker III is running for a full term, he announced Monday.

The Republican was appointed to the three-member board in 2024 to replace his father, Chris “Chip” Beeker.

“I’m running to continue fighting for Alabama families, farmers, and energy freedom,” Beeker III said in a written statement. “From my work with President Trump at the USDA to my current role on the Public Service Commission, I have stood strong for Alabama values and America First policies. Now more than ever, we need conservative leadership to protect our way of life.”

Before the PSC Place 2 appointment, Beeker served for four years as USDA Rural Development Director for the state of Alabama in the first Trump administration. He also has experience in banking, finance, budgeting, sales and marketing.

“Food security and energy security are national security,” Beeker said. “The future of Alabama’s energy sector must be built on strength, not weakness,” said Beeker. “Alabama needs leaders who will reject the radical left’s climate agenda and fight for our conservative values.

“We must implement policies that lower energy costs and put American workers first, and that’s exactly what I intend to do.”

According to campaign finance records, Beeker had raised $30,000 as of late June — three $10,000 contributions from Montgomery PACs.

No one else has raised money for a campaign so far.

The PSC regulates utilities and the three commissioners serve four-year elected terms.

The 2026 primary is May 19.
