Alabama Farmers Federation President Jimmy Parnell was unanimously elected to a sixth two-year term on Monday.
“I thank you for my reelection,” Parnell told the delegation at ALFA’s annual meeting in Montgomery, according to a press release. “I love y’all and truly enjoy what we’re doing. There is so much positivity going on inside this whole organization. I am so proud of that.”
The federation represents more than 340,000 members’ interests in Montgomery and Washington, D.C.
Parnell is a Chilton County farmer in the timber and cattle business. As president, he also leads Alfa Insurance.
Rex Vaughn of Madison County and George Jeffcoat of Houston County were reelected to their sixth two-year terms as North Area and Southeast Area vice presidents, respectively. Both raise row crops and cattle.
Separately, four district directors were elected to three-year terms. They are: Jeff Peek, Limestone, Morgan and Madison counties; Joe Anders, Bibb, Fayette, Jefferson, Lamar and Tuscaloosa counties; Tommy Martin, Choctaw, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Perry, Pickens and Sumter counties; Mark Kaiser, Baldwin, Clarke, Conecuh, Escambia, Mobile, Monroe and Washington counties.
Ann Whatley was elected to a one-year, ex-officio term on the board as chair of the State Women’s Leadership Committee. Jonathan Edgar will serve on the board for one year as chair of the State Young Farmers Committee.
