Republican candidates for Alabama Attorney General Katherine Robertson and Jay Mitchell have now raised $3.25 million and $3.23 million, respectively, according to their latest campaign finance reports.
Mitchell, the former Alabama Supreme Court chief justice who stepped down last year to run for attorney general, raised $301,750 in February. He spent $88,611 and ended the month with $2.67 million on hand. Mitchell’s largest contribution in February was $25,000 from an individual.
Robertson, chief counsel to current AG Steve Marshall, raised $163,888 in February and spent about $58,500.
Robertson’s largest contribution in February were $75,000 from Florida philanthropist Hugh Culverhouse Jr., who has previously given to her campaign, and $40,000 from Tuscaloosa-based EDUPAC, which has the state purpose of supporting those who promote a strong education system.
Robertson also reported Tuesday a $150,000 contribution received Monday from Frontline Leaders Action, a 501(c)(4) based in Virginia. The same nonprofit gave Robertson $300,000 in January.
Including that major contribution this week, Robertson has $2.08 million on hand, according to the latest information available from the Alabama Secretary of State website.
Pamela Casey, the Blount County district attorney in the three-contestant May 19 primary, raised more than $11,000 and ended February with $614,614 on hand.
