WASHINGTON — Former adviser to U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville, Morgan Murphy, has raised more than $1 million in his bid for Alabama’s open Senate seat in 2026.
Murphy brought in $1.05 million since entering the race in October, his campaign announced Monday. The contributions are to Murphy’s campaign account and his Victory Fund, a joint campaign committee.
Murphy announced his candidacy in October. His is the largest candidate first-quarter report in the race to fill Tuberville’s seat, who is running for Alabama governor.
“From Afghanistan to the White House and all points in between, the honor of my life has been serving our country,” Murphy said in a statement. “I’m proud to volunteer to serve again, this time to continue Senator Tuberville’s legacy as the strongest MAGA voice in the U. S. Senate.”
Murphy, a former Trump administration official, has received more than 10,000 contributions from more than 6,700 donors, according to his campaign. He’s received donations from all 50 states, with a supermajority from Alabama. The campaign’s average donation is $69.
The Alabama Republican has also served as an executive editor at Southern Living magazine and is a Navy Reserve captain.
In the Republican primary, U.S. Rep. Barry Moore previously led the field in first-quarter fundraising, bringing in more than $518,000 in the first months of his campaign. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall raised nearly $418,000 in the third quarter of 2025, which ended in September. Before that, Marshall raised more than $406,000 in the first month of his bid.
Former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson is also vying for the Senate seat. He raised nearly $331,000 in the third quarter of 2025. Businessman Rodney Walker raised about $389,000 in that same time period, with most of that money stemming from a personal loan.
The Senate primary will be one of the most competitive elections in Alabama this year, with fundraising expected to play a key role in the contested race.
Campaign finance reports for the last quarter of 2025 are due at the end of January.
The primary is May 19.
