New polling commissioned by Alabama Daily News and Gray Television shows that Donald Trump is far ahead of Nikki Haley in the Republican primary presidential race.
Closer to home, the race for Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court is wide open with most voters undecided between Associate Justice Sarah Stewart and former Sen. Bryan Taylor.
Conducted by the polling and research firm Cygnal, the poll surveyed 515 likely Republican voters between Jan. 29 and 30 with a margin for error of +/-4.3%.
When asked who they would support in the presidential race, 75.8% of GOP voters said Trump, while only 16.1% chose Haley.
For Supreme Court, 11.8% said they’d vote for Stewart, 8.6% chose Taylor and almost 80% of voters said they were undecided.
First term U.S. Sen. Katie Britt gets high marks from Republican voters. Almost 66% say they have a favorable view of Britt, while just 15% view her unfavorably. With reports surfacing that Trump could select Britt as a vice presidential nominee, the survey tested how open to that idea Alabama Republicans are. Just about half said they were favorable to the idea while 32.3% said they’d be unfavorable to the idea.
