Good morning and welcome to Inauguration Day. Looks like it will be a pleasant, if not chilly day for the festivities in Montgomery.
Events start at 8:15 a.m. with a prayer breakfast for the state and newly elected officials at First Baptist Church.
Then, Gov. Kay Ivey will be sworn in to her second full term at 10 a.m. outside the Capitol. Other constitutional officers will follow, including Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth, Attorney General Steve Marshall, Auditor Andrew Sorrell, Treasurer Young Boozer, Secretary of State Wes Allen and Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries Rick Pate.
From there, the inauguration parade at noon will run down Monroe Street and up historic Dexter Avenue, back to the Capitol.
Tonight, there is an invitation-only inaugural gala.
Also, don’t forget there is a Montgomery Young Professionals reception sponsored by Alabama Daily News and Vintage Hospitality at Ravello at 5:00.
