Republican Katherine Robertson got another major endorsement Wednesday in her bid to be the state’s next attorney general.
The Alabama Forestry Association put its support behind her in the contest with former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell and Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey.
“I have known Katherine since early on in her career when she worked with Senator Sessions and over the course of that friendship, I have come to deeply respect her intellect and tenacity and commitment to the integrity of the values she learned from growing up in rural Alabama,” said AFA President Chris Isaacson. Robertson has been current AG Steve Marshall’s chief counsel since 2017.
“… Her participation in the state’s fight to reign in the overreach of the federal government, whether it was the proposed listing of the dusky gopher frog or curbing the onslaught of COVID mandates, is appreciated and we are proud to support her as she seeks to be Alabama’s next attorney general,” Isaacson said.
Robertson and Mitchell in what’s probably the most heated primary contest of 2026. She has spent more than $500,000 to date and taken in over $2.28 million since announcing her plans in the summer.
Mitchell has spent about $306,000 and gathered about $2.38 million, according to the latest campaign finance information available.
Casey had more than $597,000 on hand at the end of November.
They’ve also been competing for large and small endorsements, from major groups to local law enforcement officials.
Mitchell got the Business Council of Alabama endorsement over the summer; the Alabama Farmers Federation threw its support to Robertson in October.
The GOP primary is May 19. Marshall is term limited and running for U.S. Senate.
The forestry association’s membership includes foresters, landowners, product manufacturers and loggers, among others.
