Rep. Anthony Daniels, D-Huntsville, will continue to lead the Alabama House Democrats in the next legislative session.
Caucus leadership was elected Monday. Daniels, a lawmaker since 2018, is Minority Leader. Rep. Barbara Drummond, D-Mobile, is Caucus Chair, Rep. Mary Moore, D-Birmingham, is Caucus Vice Chair and Rep. Kelvin Lawrence, D-Hayneville is Caucus Secretary and Creasurer.
Democrats held onto 28 seats in the 105-member body during last week’s elections.
“I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity to work again with such a talented and dedicated group of leaders who remain dedicated to improving the quality of life for all Alabamians,” Daniels said in a written statement.
“We will continue to promote practical and meaningful legislation and policies that highlight our pro-growth, pro-innovation platform. Right now, we are already working hard to prepare our 2023 legislative agenda to continue our focus on strengthening economic growth, access to quality health care, education innovation, mental health care, affordable housing, and justice for all.”
Alabama Senate Democrats will decide on their leaders in January.
Republicans in both chambers elected their leadership last week.
The 2023 session begins in March.
