MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Caroleene Dobson, the Republican nominee in the race to represent Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District, raised $557,488 in the second quarter of 2024, bringing her total amount raised this election cycle to $797,190. Dobson had $471,813 cash on hand at the end of June.
Dobson also loaned her campaign $393,000 during the second quarter of 2024, and in total, has loaned her campaign nearly $1.4 million since the start of the race.
With the sizable haul during Q2, her total amount raised places her among the top ten in money raised for non-incumbent GOP candidates running for Congress, according to a statement from her campaign.
“Considering the federal fundraising limits that are in place and the fact that I have never run for office, raising more than ($557,000) in such a short period is an incredible achievement, and it offers strong evidence that voters want to put our country back on the right track,” Dobson said in a recent statement.
The bulk of Dobson’s campaign contributions came from individual donors, which made up 70.5% of all contributions during the second quarter, and 73.6% of all contributions toward her campaign to date. Roughly-one third of those donors were from out of state.
Among her highest single donations during the second quarter include $3,500 from Baldwin County Sewer Service, an Alabama-based sewer service installation and repair corporation, two contributions of $2,500 from individual Alabama residents, and $2,000 from Gulf Distributing Holdings, an Alabama-based beverage distributor.
Contributions from political party committees made up around 3.6% of her contributions during the second quarter, and 2.5% of her contributions to date.
The Alabama Republican Party was among Dobson’s largest political party committee supporters, contributing $15,000 to her campaign in late June. The National Republican Congressional Committee contributed $5,000 to Dobson’s campaign.
Dobson’s campaign also secured the support of political committees led by U.S. Sens. Tommy Tuberville and Katie Britt, as well as from U.S. House Majority Leader Steve Calise, R-LA, and U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-NY, the chair of the House Republican Conference.
Contributions from other political committees, such as political action committees, or PACs, made up the second-highest share of her campaign contributions, making up 25.9% of her contributions during the second quarter, and 23.9% of contributions to date.
During the second quarter, E-PAC, a PAC based in Glen Falls, New York, contributed $15,000 to Dobson’s campaign; the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association PAC, $5,000; the Eye of the Tiger Pac, $5,000; and the Trucking PAC of the American Trucking Association, $2,500.
To date, the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association PAC, based in Washington, D.C., is tied with E-Pac as having donated the most to Dobson’s campaign as a PAC at $15,000.
In the second quarter, the total operating expenditures for Dobson’s campaign were $542,988, and $1.73 million to date. She had $471,813 in cash at hand as of Monday, and debts from personal loans toward her campaign of nearly $1.4 million.
Dobson will go on to face Democratic candidate Shomari Figures in November in the race to represent Alabama’s redrawn 2nd Congressional District.
