Capitol Journal: Special episode on opioid addiction

By TODD STACY, Alabama Daily News

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – This week on Capitol Journal we had a special episode focused on the issue of opioid abuse in Alabama – how to prevent young people from becoming addicted and what treatment options are available.

I spoke with Katherine Robertson of the Attorney General’s office and Sallye Longshore of the Department of Child Abuse and Neglect about the recent settlement with drug companies and how those funds will be put to use.

Dr. Stephen Taylor, and Chief Medical Officer of Pathway Heathcare, and Carie Wemberly of the Addition Prevention Coalition also discussed prevention efforts, including some of the warning signs to look out for.

And Dr. Luke Engeriser of AltaPoint Heath about the different types of treatment options are available.

It’s worth a watch below.
