Capitol Journal – October 11, 2024

Did you catch Capitol Journal this week?

We are reviewing the week that was in Alabama government and politics: the Veterans Affairs Board vote, the raising of third grade reading cut scores, breakthroughs in genetic testing for Alabamians, and a lot more. Also have some interesting footage of that I-65 standoff sent in from a viewer.

Alabama EMA Director Jeff Smitherman joins me to talk about the recent hurricanes, how Alabama is helping our neighbors and how our state is preparing in case we get hit next.

I’ll also sit down with Dr. Khalilah Brown of Southern Research to talk more in depth about their Catalyst program that will offer cutting edge gene testing for all Alabamians.

And ADN’s own Alexander Willis is in studio to discuss two recent stories of his: the ongoing Veterans Affairs saga and his recent trip to Israel.
