BCA selects Protective Life’s Drew as 2026 chairman

Mark Drew, an executive vice president and chief legal officer at Protective Life Corporation, will be the Business Council of Alabama’s 2026 board chairman.

“Mark is a respected leader in Alabama’s business community, and his legal expertise and business perspective will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for policies that strengthen our state’s economy and workforce,” said BCA President Helena Duncan in a written statement. “His commitment to collaboration, innovation, and responsible growth reflects the very best of Alabama business, and I look forward to partnering with him as he leads our board in 2026.”

He was elected at the BCA’s annual meeting last week.

In the statement announcing Drew’s new role, the BCA said he has been an active participant in association initiatives and a strong supporter of pro-growth, pro-job policies that help businesses of all sizes compete and thrive.

Drew will preside over meetings of the BCA Board of Directors and Executive Committee and help guide the organization’s strategic direction, advocacy priorities and member engagement efforts throughout 2026.

“I am honored to serve as BCA’s chairman for 2026,” Drew said. “BCA plays a critical role in making sure Alabama remains a place where businesses can invest, grow, and create opportunity. I’m grateful for the confidence of the board and look forward to working with Helena, the BCA team, and our members to advance an agenda that supports employers, strengthens our existing workforce, creates more jobs for all Alabama citizens, and keeps our state competitive.”
