U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, D-Birmingham, was on her way to an eighth term Tuesday, defeating Republican challenger Robin Latiker in Alabama’s Seventh Congressional District.
The Associated Press called the race for Sewell.
Sewell had received about 68% of the vote, according to preliminary results from the Alabama Secretary of State Tuesday night.
Sewell’s House committee assignments currently include ways and means and armed services.
