MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Forty-two days out from the general election, the Alabama Retail Association’s political action committee announced additional endorsements in state-level races on Monday.
The Alabama Retail PAC said it “supports candidates who recognize the vital role retail plays in Alabama’s economy and believe in a robust business climate for Alabama.”
The new endorsements came after several of the candidates Alabama Retail PAC previously backed were defeated in the May 19 primary or June 16 runoff. Others came as the PAC’s first foray into the race.
The PAC’s endorsements for statewide constitutional offices include:
- Republican John Wahl for lieutenant governor
- Republican Katherine Robertson for attorney general
- Republican Corey Hill for commissioner of agriculture and industries
For the state Legislature, the Alabama Retail PAC endorsed the following candidates:
- Republican Terry Waters for Senate District 22
- Republican Patrick Johnson for House District 8
- Republican Jeff Monroe for House District 37
- Republican Bill Morris for House District 50
“Retail plays an important role in our communities, and the decisions made at every level of government can have a real impact on our businesses,” said Melissa Cross, chair of the Alabama Retail Association. “We are proud to announce these endorsements and encourage Alabama retailers to make the retail vote count in the 2026 election.”
The Alabama Retail Association also announced recently that Alison Hosp will succeed the association’s longtime President Rick Brown. Hosp currently serves as the organization’s senior vice president, leading its governmental relations activities.
Current vice president Brett Johnson will take over as CEO, a role Brown also holds.
The transition will happen over the remainder of the year, with Hosp assuming the role of president on Jan. 1, 2027.
“Working for the people and businesses that feed, clothe and support their communities has been incredibly rewarding,” Brown said. “I am proud of what we have accomplished and especially proud of the growth of this organization. Alison and Brett have been tremendous colleagues and leaders, and I could not be happier to welcome them into these roles. I know they will take this organization to new heights.”
The general election is Nov. 3. The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 19.
