Alabama GOP Chair re-elected to vice chair of RNC Southern Region

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl was re-elected to serve as the vice chairman of the Republican National Committee Southern Region, the Alabama GOP announced recently.

“I’m deeply honored to have the trust and confidence of my colleagues to continue serving as vice chairman for the Southern Region,” Wahl said in a statement.

“The Southern Region has long been the backbone of conservative values in America, and I am committed to building on our region’s successes to ensure a strong future for our party and our nation.”

The RNC Southern Region is an organizational division of the RNC that engages in activities and outreach efforts across 14 southern states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Wahl was first elected as its vice chair in January of 2023.

Wahl, first elected as ALGOP chair in 2021 and reelected in 2023, oversaw the party’s historic gains with minority voters during the 2024 election, and attributed some of those gains to President Donald Trump having led the Republican ticket.

“The November 5th election sent a clear message, the people of America want fundamental change, they want fiscal responsibility, secure borders, education without indoctrination, and a limited government that defends the constitutional rights and freedoms of every individual,” he said. “I am committed to be a voice that fights for those values and works tirelessly to make America great again.”
