Man arrested after crash kills daughter of state rep

CULLMAN, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say a man has been arrested after the daughter of state representative and police captain was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Alabama.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency told news outlets that 33-year-old Brandon Adam Hamm was arrested Sunday and charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident.

Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick say 31-year-old Kelsey Marie Treadaway was killed from blunt force trauma in the accident around 3 a.m. Sunday. She was the volleyball coach at Mortimer Jordan High School.
Treadaway is the daughter of Alabama District 51 Rep. and Birmingham Police Capt. Allen Treadaway.

Alabama State Troopers say Treadaway’s vehicle was struck from behind by a pickup truck driven by Hamm. Treadaway was not wearing a seatbelt.

A passenger in Treadaway’s vehicle was taken to the hospital with injuries.
