MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Three House members tested positive for COVID-19 this week, according to legislative officials, but they are at home and not at the State House.
House Speaker Mac McCutcheon confirmed Tuesday that said Reps. Wes Allen, R-Troy, Tommy Hanes, R-Bryant and Ritchie Whorton, R-Scottsboro, had tested positive and were isolating at home.
Lawmakers and legislative staff have been receiving regular COVID-19 tests since the session began. Lawmakers have been taking precautions such as wearing masks, limiting access to the building and spreading out the 105 House members over two floors.
A number of lawmakers tested positive for COVID-19 before the session began.
